Planning officers recommendation for approval unanimously rejected by the SDNPA committee members!

At the SDNPA Planning Committee meeting in March 2020 National Park officers ignored their own planning policy and recommended approval!  [Click HERE to see the Planning Officer report]. There was much criticism from the members of the Planning Committee. The planning officers recommended approval, but it was unanimously rejected by the committee.  Our Society had previously asked the National Park not to take into consideration Whole Estate Plans (WEPs), when considering planning applications, but we had been rebuffed. In this case the Planning Case Officer based almost all of his recommendation around the fact the South Downs National Park had endorsed a WEP previously for this estate. As you may know WEPs are not a statutory planning instrument and are a unique idea of the SDNPA.  Also, WEPs do not undergo any formal public scrutiny process before they are approved by the Policy & Resources Committee of the SDNPA.
