Meet the team
The Friends is run by a Council of trustees elected by our members and by a team of three part-time staff.

Jenny Nayler
Team Leader
Manages the overall running of the office, does the bookkeeping and acts as clerk to Council. Throughout her life has enjoyed walking and cycling in and around the National Park.

Gill Linturn
Marketing and Memberships
Leads all aspects of membership as well as print marketing. Spent most of her life near the Peak District enjoying hiking with the family in an inspiring landscape. Relocated to Sussex 10 years ago and now enjoys walking on the Downs, seeking out a picnic spot, with a view.

Eloise Phillips
Social Media and Events Co-ordinator
Responsible for organising and hosting events for the charity, produces our digital communications, as well as The Downsman membership magazine and the monthly E-Newsletter. A keen environmentalist who grew up by the Downs and holds a Literary Studies MA from the University of Exeter.

Our history
Founded in 1923 as the Society of Sussex Downsmen, the Friends of the South Downs is the only membership-based charity dedicated to the protection of the South Downs National Park.
