Walks programme
Open Access
The Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 (CROW Act) gives a public right of access to open access land, including areas of ‘open country’ and registered common land.
We believe it is important to increase the extent of access land in the South Downs, and the number of gaps, gates and stiles, and pathways, to enable everyone to enjoy the Downs to the full. Would you like to see access improved on a particular site? If so, please let the Friends know.
Self-Guided Walks
We are pleased to be able to offer a selection of self-guided walks which you can enjoy on your own or with friends.
For each walk we provide a download, including a map, description and images to help you find your way.
Before going on one of these walks please read our General Guidance for Walkers.
